“Hope will never be silent.” — Harvey Milk

Let’s get real: Pride isn’t just about rainbows and parades. It’s a radical act of visibility, resistance, and love—especially now, when basic human rights are under attack globally.
In 2025, we’re seeing a disturbing rollback of LGBTQIA+ protections in countries once considered safe havens. Even just south of our border, political shifts are threatening the rights of transgender individuals and dismantling diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives .
But here in Canada, we’re standing firm. Pride Month is not only a celebration but a commitment to justice, equity, and inclusion
Canada has a long-standing history of supporting LGBTQIA+ rights. In 1969, we decriminalized same-sex relations . Fast forward to 2022, we criminalized conversion therapy, a significant step in protecting LGBTQIA+ individuals .
The federal government has also launched the first Federal 2SLGBTQI+ Action Plan, aiming to build a more inclusive future with pride
The rainbow flag, designed by Gilbert Baker in 1978, is a symbol of LGBTQIA+ pride and diversity. Each color represents a different aspect.
Over time, the flag has evolved to include black and brown stripes, representing marginalized LGBTQIA+ communities of color, and light blue, pink, and white stripes, representing the transgender community.

Pride is more than a month-long celebration; it's a movement for equality and acceptance. It commemorates the 1969 Stonewall Uprising, a pivotal moment in LGBTQIA+ history . Today, Pride encompasses parades, protests, and events that honor the struggles and achievements of the LGBTQIA+ community
